How It All Started

The Chuys Story

Chuys began as a small, passionate kitchen in the heart of Fort Worth, Texas. Founded with the belief that great food brings people together, our doors first opened in 1982 with a simple menu and an enormous heart — welcoming everyone who walked through them like family.

The name Chuys became synonymous with bold, authentic chuy's-style flavors crafted from family recipes passed down through generations. Every dish tells a story; every bite is a celebration of culture, community, and craft.

Over four decades, we've grown from a neighborhood gem to a beloved destination — but our soul remains the same. We still hand-make our salsas fresh daily, source local ingredients wherever possible, and greet every guest with a genuine smile.

A History of Flavor

From humble beginnings to a Fort Worth institution — here's how Chuys has grown over the years.

1982

The First Door Opens

Chuys opens its original location on 7th Street in Fort Worth with 12 tables, a hand-painted sign, and recipes straight from the family kitchen.

1990

First Expansion

Demand for chuy's authentic flavors grew so quickly we doubled our dining room capacity and added a full bar program with signature margaritas.

2001

Catering Launches

We launched our catering service, bringing the Chuys experience to weddings, corporate events, and celebrations across the DFW metroplex.

2010

"Best of Fort Worth" Award

Chuys was named the city's favorite restaurant by Fort Worth Weekly, a recognition we treasure as a testament to our loyal community of guests.

2018

Online Ordering Debut

We launched online ordering and delivery, making it easier than ever to enjoy Chuys from the comfort of your own home.

2024

Renewed & Remodeled

We completed a full renovation of our flagship location — new kitchen, refreshed interiors, and an expanded patio — while keeping every classic recipe intact.
